Recommended Immunization for Adults
Recommended vaccinations
- Hepatitis A vaccine
- Japanese B Encephalitis, if you intend to stay for more than a month.
- Typhoid vaccine, this does not ensure 100% prevention and vaccine against Salmonella serotype paratyphi A is not available.
- Meningococcal vaccine
- Tetanus-Diphtheria vaccine
- Polio vaccine
- Measles-Mumps-Rubella
- Influenza especially if old with preexisting lung disease.
- Rabies vaccine if intending to stay over a month.
- Hepatitis B vaccine
- Pneumococcal vaccine recommended for travelers over 50 years of age.
- Varicella (chicken pox) if you have not had chicken pox as a child
- Diptheria-Pertusis-Tetanus vaccine is recommended if it has been omitted in your primary vaccination.
Vaccinations not recommended

Cholera vaccine is a low efficacy vaccine and foreigners are rarely affected by this disease.
- Yellow fever is not seen in Nepal.
Check your health insurance coverage for international benefits, or take a travel health insurance. If your country has an embassy in Katmandu , register with them before you trek
